Classes

CBA classes incorporate powerimmersion strategies, where instruction and strategic play time in Mandarin or Spanish-speaking environments are led by highly qualified, native-speaking teachers. Class activities alternate between free and structured play time that include games, sports, art, music, literacy, math and Bible lessons.

Students in CBA’s Early Childhood Education classes are introduced to beautiful glimpses of Latin-based culture in playing games, listening to fables, singing and making crafts. This time is completely set in Spanish, which is distinct from schools that only offer foreign language classes, because research is clear that children effectively learn a second language in an immersion environment.

Students in Kindergarten through 9th grade study Spanish Language Arts and Math according to fun Social Studies and Science themes completely immersed in Spanish.

Elementary and upper school students also participate in an English Language Arts program taught through project-based learning. CBA has crafted our curriculum through adapting Common Core standards and ACTFL language proficiency standards along with Linguafolio Jr. styled assessment techniques.

OVERVIEW

As an overview,  CBA opened its doors in December 2014, started its kindergarten program in 2016, and has added a grade every year, with plans to launch 9th grade in the fall of 2025.

For the 25-26 school year:

  • The full-day Spanish/English immersion program is Monday-Friday for grades 1-5 (elementary school, 8:15-3:15) and grades 6-9 (upper school, 8:15-3:30).
  • CBA has 2 sections of grades 1-6 and one section each of grades 7-9.  Each section attends Spanish for part of the day (language arts, math, science) and English for the other part of the day, and the sections switch to the other language after lunch.  CBA elementary and upper school students also have PE and chapel.
